ENGLISH : PROOFREADING & EDITING

Before you submit your CV for a job application, or an essay or dissertation that you've been working hard on for that all-important mark, think about running it past just one more set of eyes. I have a postgraduate degree in translation; some of the subjects I studied were Law, Economics, and Syntax & Stylistics. Contact me for a quote - I'm sure I can help.

Proofreading & Editing

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

PROOFREADING

How can it help me?

Proofreading can be of vital importance to you, especially if you are a postgraduate student. Proofreading is the process of correcting surface errors in writing, such as grammatical, spelling, punctuation and other language mistakes. Remember that your writing must communicate its message in the clearest possible way. Yes, a spell-checker can help you in the short term, but writing in your second language is fraught with challenges. For writing to be clear, there must be no spelling, grammar or punctuation errors, or inconsistency in language, as these can undermine the impact of the writing and the credibility of the author.

EDITING

How can it help me?

Editing involves a proactive editor making changes and suggestions that will improve the overall quality of your writing, particularly in relation to language use and expression. After editing, your language will be sharp and consistent, your expression clear and the overall readability of your writing enhanced. Editing should ensure that your writing gives the impression that the English language comes naturally to you, even if it does not.
